On the 29th, we held our annual flag football game at Porter Park in Prarie Village. Having been on the winning team last year, I was looking forward to the game, but at the same time, I was wondering how my team would pan out this year. There is a certain sense of relief being on the winning team, and a great amount of frustration being on the losing team. No doubt it was cold that day, didn’t even reach 40, and the snow covered the entire field. But when the final second ticked off the clock, we had won in a route, 80-40. They managed a last minute drive to cut the lead in half. If you have ever seen the Simpson’s, the final drive was similar to the episode when Homer was daydreaming that he was the quarterback of the Broncos(It was the episode when they had to do the witness relocation program when Sideshow Bob was after Bart), and with no time on the clock, he dove in the endzone, and everyone was celebrating. And then the announcer said something like, “and with that, the San Fransico 49ers beat the Denver Broncos 42-6″. It was a fun game, no one was injured, and hopefully we’ll be able to do it again next year.
After the game, I was able to meet up with some more friends. It’s always good to be able to catch up with the KC crowd. I sure was tired after the game though. Running pass patterns for 3 hours isn’t easy to recover from. I was upset that I didn’t get to see either game for KU hoops, the 22nd and 29th. I didn’t even get to watch them on TV.
The next two days, I did not feel very good. I spent most of the time in bed, since I was already sick, the game on Sat. didn’t help my cause. But I wanted to be sure that I was able to function during the trip to Miami, since we had a lot of driving/flying to do. It was nice to have a tv to watch though. I’m still debating on whether or not I should get one for my place in Portland. Speaking of Portland, how bout them blazers? What a nice streak they still have going.
