If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

4125609004.jpg  Ok, between meetings for work, filling out paperwork, etc, I have managed to spend a LOT of time either looking for videos to post, figuring out my digital camera, and understanding the bus routes. All 3 of these should be rather simple tasks, but I can always manage to foul up the easiest of tasks.

The bus routes. Yesterday, I managed to get a ride to my destination for a morning meeting. The 38 was my route of choice going home. As I was dropped off, I noticed to myself that it was passing by. I thought to myself, “Easy. The bus pickup is even closer than I thought.” Well, after 30 minutes of meeting, I was ready to head home. So I walked to the stop, and I waited. And waited. And waited. It took me about 20 minutes of standing before I started to head towards a gas station, as I had $5 in my wallet. So not only was I wondering about my bus, but I also realized that I didn’t have exact change($2 for the ride). I had remembered that there as a gas station nearby from a previous trip, so I walked along the route, figuring if the bus came, I would just pay $5. I walked. And I walked. And I walked. No bus, no gas station. 2 1/2 miles later, I purchased a paper, and had my money. At least one task was complete. However, my shirt has become soaked due to the backpack/85 degree weather combo. I had become used to 70 degrees in the morning, but of course, this is me, so it was bound to be hot. I then called the bus station, confirmed that the 38 would not stop by until 3:20(it was 10:30am at the time). I had to double back plus another mile to complete my journey.

Then, I decided to stop downtown. I had my camera with me, so I decided to take some pictures. What a waste. I took about 10 horrible pictures, all of them out of focus. The only good picture was of some random building I don’t even know the name of. It really didn’t even matter, because had I taken good pictures, I wouldn’t even know how to load them onto the site. But don’t worry, I’m on the case. To add to the mileage, I covered about 4 more miles before I went home fatigued.

Today, I grabbed another bus for a meeting this morning. All went well heading out, but coming home was another story. I really messed up, and I knew it. I had only 3.25 with me, and I needed 4 for the round trip. Well, I had a $50 bill, but what good is that. No change. So the whole time during my meetings I was wondering how I was going to get home. I kept wondering how awkward it would be to ask people that you are just meeting for either: A. .75 cents, B. Change for a 50, or C. a ride home because I don’t have proper change for the bus. It seems that only I end up in these situations.

So I did none of the above. Instead, I left towards the bus stop without enough change, and too much in the bill department. Luckily, I asked some folks from that neighborhood if they knew of any places to eat nearby. They pointed vaguely in the right direction, so I headed that way, and about 1/2 mile up the road, there was a mexican restaurant, with a catchy name, Nacho Mamas. Who’s nachos are those? Nachos! Well, happened to be that someone had just eaten there, and paid with a hundred. Someone else had paid with a fifty. And then I come along, with another fifty. The place had run out of change. There were a couple of folks that were not able to leave tips, and I was in the same boat. I could have left, but I decided to see what sort of change I could get. Not only because I wanted to leave a tip, but because I had gotten $40.50 back for change, leaving me with two many twenty dollar bills, and 25 cents too little. So I left a substantial tip, but got the money that I needed.

Oh, to start the day, I was able to direct some folks in the right direction. They were looking for Portland St., and I told them which direction to go, so that really isn’t so great, but at least I didn’t send them the opposite direction. Really, I was just guessing, but they were looking for the school, and I know where that it.

And posting videos. I want to be sure that there is no explicit contect, foul language, etc. Everytime I find some great videos, there is always one or two that ruin the post, so I can’t use them. That’s how I just spent the last few hours.
