If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

32291863.jpg Time off, for now, has reached it’s overtime point. I was glad at the end of the summer to take almost 4 weeks off and just relax before the trip. At the end of this week, I’ll be pushing close to 6weeks of hanging out. That’s a lot more than I have ever taken(well, not since my sophomore year in high school when I quite my post as a newspaper delivery boy. Some would say that I was fired, but I held my head high as I earned my $20 that morning, and on my way out of the delivery truck, my boss said, “Hey Nick”, and in a brief moment I considered the thought that he was going to give me some praise for my hard work, but I was a bit off on that one. He ended his sentence, the last one that he would speak to me, with, “…you forgot your vomit bag.”), and it was much needed. (I would get motion sickness, and that hindered my productivity. A job that should have taken me 2 hours took over 4. I save the defense for another post).

But I’m excited to get back to work soon. I’ll give more details later, and some have heard, but I’ve got a lead on a job. I don’t want to jinx it, so I’ll wait about 2 more weeks to give final details, but pray for me and give me some positive thoughts that it all goes through. What a huge relief it was to arrive last Wed. and have an interview lined up that same week. As much fun as it would be to just chill, vacation time is over. Today is the first day that I see myself as a(soon to be) member of the Portland community, and not just here on vacation.

I don’t have a printer, so I had to go downtown to an internet cafe. Job related documents that I needed to print off and mail out. I hadn’t been to an internet cafe since my study abroad days in Mexico. We would go at least once a week. It was sort of refreshing, and I remember those times emailing friends, or reading emails. For now, in that aspect, the two trips are very similar. The emailing frequency is way up, and for now, that it really helping me make the adjustment.

  1. Once I begin receiving paychecks, I’ll be able to buy a camera. Anybody recommend one brand over the other? I would like to have capability to take digital photos, and record footage as well. Give prices also. Thanks.

  2. Nick - Get an awesome Sony or Canon for 200 bucks. Check ads in the paper for the cheapest deals that weekend.
