If the Phone Doesn’t Ring, It’s Me

474414437.jpg I think that despite the difficulties of first learning street names, exits, etc., I enjoyed the trips that I took today. I headed out towards the west and then south of Portland. Downtown driving can be a chore, even if you know where you are going. At one point, I made the wrong turn twice, and did a loop around a 4 block area. And that was before I made it to the highways. Then, in the town of Hillsboro, I had to stop by the Chamber of Commerce for a map to guide me. It worked out for the better. And, I also got to see the local air show that was going on. To go with the free afternoon concert, not a bad deal.

The minor-league sports thing is similar to KC, having the T-bones baseball team in kc,ks. Cheaper than major league ball, and sometimes more fun. In Portland, the AAA baseball teams plays in the same stadium as the soccer team, the Timbers. I recently heard one of the guys that gave up a recent homer to Bonds in back in Portland AAA. I didn’t stay for the whole soccer game, I watched from outside the gate(free again), along with 20-30 others, and a group who stood on their ladders, which I thought was a pretty good idea, in order to see the entire field. One thing I have noticed, there are people running/jogging all the time. Everywhere. In the burbs, in the city, in the street. At times I get the bug, a little urge to hit the pavement, but then my back tells me otherwise. I hope to be back running within 2-3 months. There are alternatives to running I suppose. Perhaps biking or swimming. At one point this summer, I thought that I might get back in shape, and try to compete unattached in a Portland area college track meet. I’m about four months behind schedule. I’m debating on buying a car(20-25 min.), or taking the public transportation(about 45-50 min.) for work.
